The Reason I Hate Preppers

Hey friends, Matt here with BAAM Ranch. I want to talk about why I don't like the term "preppers." It might seem odd since I run a preparedness-based RUclips channel, but hear me out. When I think of "preppers," I picture people either wasting money on gear they never use or living in constant fear of disaster. Our goal is different: we prep to maintain our normal lives even when things go wron...

All about humidity, not temperatures
Humidity, freeze thaw, sun, my own forgetfulness,,,,,,, A bunch of causes
Invest in ammo 😊
Always!!!
Save money and build your own trauma kit. Many of the meds from Jace and Contingency are over the counter or have otc equivalents. You can still buy fish antibiotics online but the price has doubled and selection is minimal relative to last year. As a retired nurse, medical kits are rip offs.
Maybe a few oil or fuel drums so you can burn trash or whatever in case your garbage can’t get picked up.
Yep! Good point!

Battery shit like that is garbage!!! I bought the weedeater thinking it was something took it out of the box and literally returned it 15 minutes later. Went and bought me another stihl
No joke bro!
As a carpenter I would recommend a saw-zall and a corded orbit sander as the battery ones die very quickly. The saw-zall is good to cut pipe, wire, wood, plastic, branches and dick loads of other shit 🫡
I went back and forth on including the saw-zal. Thanks for the tip on the sander
You hate people who don't share your viewpoint... even better, your exact viewpoint. Alrighty then
I’m afraid you missed the point to be made in the video

Trump could be the worst Republican in the country and he would still be better than the best Democrat. That's just the way it is.
I'm so glad you did this video. I have wanted to purchase my own power tools and learn how to use them but had no idea where to start. It is overwhelming when you look at all of the tools available and you just fixed that for me.
@@megandonahue9220 thanks!!! Shoot, I get overwhelmed standing in the Home Depot isle!!! How have you need?
@BAAMRanch I've been great. Took a much needed break from youtube/social media and prepping. I'm trying to unplug more and just try to enjoy life without fear. I always get a lot out of your videos and you are one of the few I kept on my youtube favorites. I friend of mine is going to teach me how to use tools as I buy them. I bought 2 really good sets of hand tools first as part of my preps.

9mm shooter that complains about lifting 50 cal ammo cans 😂 Sounds about right these days
Can’t your wife and kids move them?
@@BAAMRanchWhy would they need to move them ? They're storage cans, not range cans.. I'm sure if they needed to they could. 30lbs ain't all that heavy my guy..
It’s not all about what you can do. Any adult can handle a 50 can. Choosing something lighter weight isn’t complaining. I want my wife and kids to be able to handle everything I’ve got.
Too many back stories. Left before the info happened.

I recently done dug up near abouts a thousand rounds of misc ammo I done buried a while or two ago, maybe some 15 years, therabouts. Some of it had got wetter than a 2 bit whore at the dollar store and the brass casings were all corroded up, as well as the copper jackets on the bullets. I gave them a quick wipey wipey with some that there WD-40, and I danged near shit a fence post when every round fired. My notion is that the stable temperature underground, done didn't cause no expansion and contraction betwixt the bullet and case to allow no moisture to enter the cartridge and ruin it. I knows a guy what keeps his ammo in the freezer, ain't sure but what he might be on to something, or maybe just on something.
Brevity is the soul of wit...and a good video. Get to what you're trying to say. 6:30 and you're not there. My ammo is in a dark interior closet with clean copper clappers. My primers are packed with dry rice in a zip lock bag.
Thanks man, good video. Homeslice Pizza 🍕 You in Toledo?
@@edwardhernandez7667 haha nope, I really have no ideas where my shirt came from, I’m in Texas
Why would you put ammo in a plastic bag. IE humidity.
Admittedly I am new to this activity and do not know things. But my intuition is screaming at me on the idea of tossing old ammo into a dumpster! Is there no safety risk to that? I realize the ammo isn’t what it used to be be, but still…
@@Macismad I pulled the bullets first,,,, for some reason people just assume I toss led out live ammo
@@BAAMRanch cool! I think it’s just the way you stated it wasn’t clear. But like I said I am new to this and am not trying to act like I even know anything. I just recently purchased my first firearm. I’m retired and am mostly inclined at taking this process slowly, deliberately, and above all, safely. I subscribed to your channel because I like how well you explained about how not to store ammo.
@Macismad well congratulations of your new pew pew! What did ya get?
@@BAAMRanch S & W SD9 2.0. From what I can tell by reviews and vids, I made an okay choice. Good to great gun for the money. I have no complaints; I just need to put some time and practice in on it. Working on stance and my grip for now. In 20/20 hindsight, it may have been better for me to get something a little more compact as I have small hands and while I know pretty much what to do, it seems like I’d have an easier time of it with something smaller. But, I will overcome. Not that I ever intend to carry, I do want to take a CCW class, and perhaps get another gun that is more compact and more appropriate for carry. Long ways off though.
Good video sadly fear is the motivating factor for a lot of preppers
Thanks!
You provided substantive food for thought.
Thanks!
Is the big generator you provided a link to big enough to power two refrigerators?
Oh yeah, as a matter of fact, the SMALL one in the link is 2000. We power out single fridge with a 1000 and can still run some lights. The BIG one won’t even know a fridge is plugged in. I might add, if you access Amazon with my link to buy, it won’t cost a penny more but I do get like 2% of the sale. Even if you order a product not listed
@@BAAMRanch Thank you! When I do buy one, I'll be sure to use your link.
I just picked up the same machine last night from Tractor Supply. Never drove a zero turn before but after blowing up my 12 yr old 38 inch Husqvarna last week I decided to try this Cub 42. I just did my front lawn in half the time of my standard tractor and it was my virgin voyage on a zero turn. I had so much dang fun I didnt want to get off the thing. Back to my desk for work now and looking forward to fighting with the wife over who gets to mow the back yard!
Haha awesome man, my wife and I race to mow also. My son and I had ours in the trailer trying to side hustle some lawns after work yesterday. A zero-turn transforms that into easy money. Gonna have it pay for itself by the end of summer
@@BAAMRanch love the plan! And couldn’t agree more. This thing makes mowing fun!
And let me save you a few bucks. I just purchased the arm rests for the ZT. The product listing from CC says they fit the “50 & 54 inch models” but they do in fact fit the 42’ and install the same exact way with ease. However, the armrests were useless during operation as they sit far too low. I’m 6’3 with long arms and even on the mid drive bar setting they still sit too low. The one and only thing they are good for is leverage when getting in and out of the seat. But otherwise useless.
@gotmylk haha, I was considering buying them. So thanks! I’m 6’2”

I agree with you. However, reducing your dependence also increases your freedom. It’s not a perfect system but the lawmakers who wrote the bills did so to benefits themselves and their interests. The rules may be hidden from view, but, that does not mean you can’t use their own game to benefit in the same way they do

Good Video, needs to be said! I haven't been rotating my ammo also. I always kinda Planned to, but never do. lol Trump 2024!
So you're root'in for the New York Democrat of seventy years that banned bump stocks, is pro red flag laws and said verbatim _l like taking the guns first then jurisprudence_ ? No wonder we're toast !
Totally agree! The sets and reps talk really hit home, since I have lifted weights all of my life. I also liked how you told people that a pellet rifle alone is not necessarily the total answer to prepping and that a shotgun and a 22 and are needed in the arsenal. Also, the need in an air rifle is the ability to be able to fix it, with other springs and seals. When an airgunner can hit a quarter at 30 yards consistently, they are ready to take any small game. Ps, subbed.😃👍
Thanks man
